The MSDH Criminal History Record Check Division processes background checks only for MSDH-licensed healthcare and child care facilities.
Background checks for other types of facilities may be provided by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety's Criminal Information Center.
Getting a Background Check
Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, LiveScan fingerprinting at the LeFleur's Square office is suspended until September 1, 2021.
If you are the process of being hired by an MSDH licensed healthcare or child care facility, you can have a fingerprint scan and background check done at our Licensure office in Jackson. Bring the completed information form below, a picture ID, $50 payment (or proof of payment from your hiring facility) to the Licensure Office at 143B LeFleur's Square, Jackson, MS 39211. Payments in the form of a money order, business check or cashier’s check must be made out to MSDH. Online payments are also accepted through the online payment portal on this web page.
Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon.

Online Payment Portal
Online payment is now available for healthcare and childcare facilities. The portal may also be used for replacement records ($15) and copies of suitability letters ($10).

Health and Child Care Facilities
Each healthcare and child care provider must inform applicants being fingerprinted that their fingerprints will be transmitted to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and run through the Mississippi Criminal Information and Federal Bureau of Investigation databases in order to complete state and national background checks.
